Released in 1999, Windows 2000 was the beginnning of the end for the Windows 9x product line, extending upon Windows NT 4.0 it provided an unprecedented level of manageability and reliability which had not been seen before on a Windows platform. Now in 2010, Windows 2000 has finally reached the end of its extended support phase to become an unsupported operating system release.
Microsoft Windows 2000 Unofficial SP5 combines 403 hotfixes into a single hotfix - fully automated. It's not just a matter of determining file versions, there's much more to it. The Microsoft Windows 2000 Unofficial SP5 interface is very easy to use since it's identical to a normal Windows update setup. After installing SP4 for Windows 2000, I have at least 3 programs that no longer work. The installation programs for these programs even stopped working for one of them. I don;t recommend installing this service pack unless you can test it and remove it if there are problems.
In line with our security mandate, HPC:Factor has decided to generate and maintain a patching list for Windows 2000 Professional from now until Windows 2000 patch issuing is discontinued completely. It is not deemed necessary to add an installation guide to this document, and there are no plans to add one in the future.

It determines which files must be updated, which files must be downloaded, which files are needed from the source path, and which are available.
